Ambassadors award!

Robert & Alex recognised at IDDP

The Sycamore Trust Autism Ambassadors have been honoured with an award from the Barking & Dagenham IDDP. The International Day of Disabled People celebration took place yesterday at Dagenham & Redbridge FC and Robert & Alex were nominated for the Michael Brooks Award.

Sadly, Alex was unable to attend because of Covid restrictions, but Robert was on hand to receive the award. The Michael Brooks Award is given each year at the Barking & Dagenham International Day of Disabled People to the organisation or group that has made an outstanding difference to the lives of people with disabilities in the borough.

This year, it was awarded to our Autism Ambassadors and Robert is pictured with the award. Click here to see a short video of Robert receiving the award and his acceptance speech! https://youtu.be/HaM1jp1mj1k

It was a busy day for Robert - earlier he had given a speech talking about the Becontree Estate, and inviting members of the audience to come and smell samples of soap, mud and manure!

The Joy Palmer award for the individual who has made a difference to the lives of people with disabilities in B&D went to Matt Dyde, for his work at Progress Project and with the Ambassadors. Matt & Robert are pictured after the event at Dagenham & Redbridge FC.
