An 'interesting' evening!

Snooker legend Steve Davis was guest of honour last night at the Barking & Dagenham Chamber of Commerce as the Chamber launched their Business Awards for 2019.

The launch event took place at Dagenham & Redbridge FC and local sporting hero Davis was the guest speaker as the awards for 2019 were launched in front of an audience of BDCC members and event sponsors.  The awards this year are sponsored by our friends at Coventry University and Sycamore Trust CEO Chris Gilbanks was interviewd by the CU London social media team before the event began.

In the 2018 award ceremony, also held at the football club, we were successful, picking up the BDCC award for Community Invollvement and we will hope to be among the nominees again in 2019.

Once the formal business was concluded, the 'Romford Potter' - his title (!) entertained us all with a variety of stories from his glittering snooker career, including meeting the Queen, winning haircut of the year and becoming 'interesting' thanks to his Spitting Image puppet.  The event ended with Steve challenging Conor Jackson from CU london to an impromptu game of pool!
