Autism Ambassadors at

Harold Wood Primary School

On the 7th October the Autism Ambassadors ran a hugely successful autism awareness day at Harold Wood Primary School in Romford. In the morning, Robert Lamb and two of our young ambassadors delivered their award-winning autism awareness training presentation to a group of parents and followed this up with a presentation to assembled Key Stage 2 pupils and staff.

In the afternoon Robert ran four workshops with Year 5 and 6 classes so they could learn even more about autism and most importantly how they can help and support their autistic classmates. The Ambassadors also provided background information that enabled one of Harold Wood Primary's teachers to run a shorter presentation to assembled Key Stage 1 infants.

To mark the occasion the school made it a non-uniform day and parents, pupils and staff raised over £500 for the Sycamore Trust. This money will make a massive contribution to our work with young people with autistic spectrum disorders.

A big thank you to Mrs Burchell, who helped us organise the day, parents, staff and most importantly our young volunteer ambassadors and the pupils of Harold Wood Primary for making the day such a success!!
