Do you know someone who needs support?

Do you know someone who might benefit from a Sycamore Trust UK Support Worker? Our Support Workers are trained to work with people with Autism on a one-to-one basis, accessing activities according to their needs.  These could be social activities, education settings, travel on public transport or simply visiting the local shops.  The Support Work service is for both adults and young people aged eight and above and at present it costs £14.50 per hour, plus expenses (i.e. expenses accrued during the time spent with the client).  This can be self-funded or can come from Direct Payments, if you are receiving Direct Payments from your local authority.

There are plenty of situations where a Support Worker could be really useful.  It may be that the person with Autism wants to access work or volunteering, or that they need support when socialising or accessing activities in the community but are unable to do this alone.  Having a trusted Support Worker by their side can relieve the anxiety that could be experienced in these everyday situations.  In turn, this can increase independence, confidence and self-esteem.

Referrals can be made by professionals or parents/carers. For more information, call 020 8517 9317 or email nikki.murphy@sycamoretrust.org.ukfor a referral form
