Get on your bike!
This summer, it will be time to get on your bike to raise money for Sycamore! In July, Fix Auto Dagenham and Sycamore Trust will combine to stage a round-London cycle ride, in a bid to raise funds for the charity. The bodyshop in Rainham Road South is supporting Sycamore this year and have a number of cyclists among the staff, many of whom are also football fans, so the round London ride will be taking in as many of the capital’s football stadiums as we can fit in!
The round Lonjdon ride will take place on Saturday 16th July, and appropriately, the starting point will be our local club, Dagenham & Redbridge FC, who have enjoyed a terrific season in the National League and are a two minute walk from the Fix Auto premises. From Victoria Road, we have worked out a route of around 60 miles, which, even at a leisurely pace, will take a few hours to complete. Our planned course takes us past many of London’s football landmarks, including Leyton Orient, West Ham, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea. We’ll even go south of the Thames, with Charlton Athletic as our last stop, before crossing the river through the Woolwich foot tunnel and returning to Dagenham.
Fix Auto Dagenham's Operations Director Neil Parker explained why the business had decided to support Sycamore Trust UK. He said; "I was blown away by what Sycamore do to help and support the needs of local people and their families for whom autistic spectrum disorders and learning disabilities are part of their daily lives. We have long been a supporter of more prominent charities, but this year we wanted to support a local one and Sycamore Trust seemed the obvious choice."
The whole purpose, apart from a good day out, is to raise money for Sycamore so we’re looking for people who’d like to take part.
