Going halves!

If you'd ever considered running a marathon but think it might be a bit too far, how about a half-marathon?  Better still, how about a half marathon for charity?  Well, now's your chance, because the Havering half-marathon has been scheduled to take place this October and applications are open for runners of all abilities.

Organised by our friends at local mental health charity Havering Mind, the race is the first half marathon to be staged in Havering for almost 25 years. Money raised through the £30 entry fee will contribute to their efforts to support local people in the community who may be experiencing difficulty with their mental wellbeing but over and above that figure, any money raised can be donated to a charity of your choice, and we can certainly suggest one!

The launch event took place at Havering Town Hall last week and the race itself takes place on Sunday 6th October this year, setting off and finishing in Harrow Lodge Park. The course will take runners through Hornchurch and Upminster and takes in Hornchurch Country Park with part of the course on the road and part on the pavement.
