Have you planned for the future?

Who looks after our children when we're not here?

There’s less than a fortnight to go before the important event that we’re hosting on Wednesday 12th June and we still have handful of places available.  The discussion relates to how best to plan for future care for our young people on the autistic spectrum after their parents have passed away.  It’s a question that no-one likes to ask, but it’s important to prepare so that the young people in our care are properly looked after when we’re no longer here. It’s a difficult subject to discuss but it’s a question that cannot be ignored.  We’re really pleased to say that we can go some way to helping to provide the answer thanks to our friends from Mullis & Peake.  We’re hosting a ticket-only event to discuss Wills, Trusts and Power of Attorney on Wednesday 12th June at 7pm and admission for Sycamore members is just £5.

It’s quite easy to set up a Trust and to nominate a responsible person to look after the affairs of someone on the spectrum, but it’s not widely known that parents lose legal rights over their children once they are 18, so it is very important to have the right documents in place to ensure that the affairs of our young people on the spectrum are looked after by someone that we trust.

We’re very fortunate that Samantha Hamilton, head of the Private Client Department at Mullis & Peake, will host a seminar on this very important subject on 12th June at the Sycamore Trust UK premises in Dagenham.  The 90-minute evening will be split into two parts with Samantha outlining the importance of planning for the future and how to go about it in the first half, with a Q&A session in the second half.  It’s a ticket only event and we have a strict limit on the number of places.  Tickets are £10 each, but Sycamore members pay just £5.
