Lording it!

World Cup treat for Ambassadors

There was a wonderful day out for a group of our Autism Ambassadors recently as some of our young people enjoyed some top class sport as guests of the GLA.  We were treated to a day at Lords to see Pakistan face Bangladesh in the Cricket World Cup.

We recently delivered a presentation to GLA staff as part of our Social Survivors project, which is running two groups a week for 10-16 year olds thanks to our funding from the Mayor of London's Young Londoners Fund, and we were offered the tickets from our friends at the GLA by way of thanks for the presentation.

As we approached the ground on Friday, we knew that results elsewhere had meant that it was almost impossible for Pakistan to qualify for the semi finals and that Bangladesh had already been eliminated but you wouldn't have known from the atmosphere, generated by a noisy and passionate crowd.

It was a great experience for our young people, all of whom were visiting Lords for the first time.  Our seats were in the Edrich Stand, giving us a perfect view as Pakistan batted superbly to reach 314 after their 50 overs.  Bangladesh fell well short of the Pakistan total, losing by 94 runs, but a great day was had by all the visitors from the Sycamore Trust!
