New responsibilities

We’ve had something of a reshuffle at Sycamore Trust, with some new responsibilities for existing staff, and more importantly, a new addition to the team!

To begin with, Emma Marston has moved up to the role of Parenting Pathways Manager. Emma has been working on the Pathways project for five years now and was the ideal person to assume the project managerial responsibilities when the vacancy arose as Jean Fairweather left Sycamore in March.

In addition, Jean’s departure also created a vacancy on the Sycamore Trust UK management team and Debbie Gadbury, our Senior Project Manager has stepped into that role, alongside her existing responsibilities as Family Services Manager.

Emma’s elevation created a vacancy, which has been filled by Vicki Hart. Vicki, from Chadwell Heath, will have a dual role, both supporting Emma in delivering the vital Parenting Pathways project and spending two days a week as part of our Family Support team. Like many Sycamore staff, Vicki has a personal relationship with Autism, as several members of her family are on the spectrum, including her two sons. Alfie, 17, has been attending our Bravo group each week for the past two years, so Vicki is no stranger to Sycamore Trust.

Apart from being a parent, she also has plenty of experience of working in special educational needs. She worked for a charity that supported adults with Learning Disabilities for almost eight years and worked at Trinity School in Dagenham for over five years.

Another member of staff with new responsibilities is Nikki Murphy, who now adds Health & Safety and Safeguarding to her existing portfolio.

Sycamore Trust CEO Chris Gillbanks said; “I’d like to congratulate Emma on her promotion to Project Manager for the Parenting Pathways programme. With her experience of this project, she was the outstanding candidate for the post. The same could also be said of Debbie joining the management team. When we realized that we had a vacancy, her all-round experience of the issues faced by families on the spectrum, and her years of service to Sycamore Trust UK made her the obvious choice. Finally, welcome to Vicki, who we know will be a valuable addition to our team.”
