Peake Performance!

Sycamore chosen by local solicitors

The good news keeps on coming! We may only be halfway through World Autism Awareness Week, but we’re already declaring it a huge success.  Not only have we already enjoyed a number of really successful events – with more to come – but we’ve also been given a massive boost by local solicitors Mullis & Peake, who have named us as their charity of the year!

It’s wonderful news for everyone here at the Sycamore Trust and we are already planning a series of events for the year that will provide some valuable advice to our service users and allow M&P staff to really embrace what we do.

Mullis & Peake have been in Romford for over a century, having been established in 1902. They provide a wide range of law services for both business and individual clients, including family and employment law, property and residential and wills & trusts.

Samantha Hamilton, Member, Head of Private Client Department of Mullis & Peake LLP Solicitors and Panel Deputy, said: “We are delighted that the Sycamore Trust is Mullis & Peake’s Charity of the Year for 2019-2020 as the charity undertakes life changing work throughout the community. The charity provides unrivalled support to the families, carers and friends of indivuduals with Autistic Spectrum Disorder. This week is also World Autism Awareness Week so it’s a great time to get involved with the Sycamore Trust.  Mullis & Peake’s staff will be dressing down (or up!) on Friday 5th April in support of the charity’s Dare to be Different Day.”

There will be a number of events and throughout the next twelve months and Sycamore spokesperson Steve Dixon said; “we’re thrilled by this news and it couldn’t have come at a better time as we embrace Autism Awareness Week.  We’re very much looking forward to working alongside everyone at Mullis & Peake to help raise awareness of a condition that is so often overlooked and with any luck, raise some much-needed money as well.”

The first event is likely to be an advice workshop for parents and carers of children on the spectrum, looking specifically at trust funds and how to provide for your children later in life.  It’s a subject that comes up regularly in discussions with our families and service users and we hope to have details of this important event very soon.  Watch this space!
