SWAP project under way

First session complete

After all the preparations, today was an important day for our new Speak With A picture programme as the first group of parents attended the opening session at our premises in Dagenham.

Ten parents attended the 90 minute workshop and everyone declared the session to be a success as Sycamore staff Lynn Chapman, Cheryl Kearney and Ann Marie Lyons-Mummery outlined the project and what the parents could expect over the next 12 weeks.

Sycamore Trust UK operations manager Lynn Chapman said; “we were delighted to get such a good response to the opening session.  All the parents found it enjoyable and on a couple of occasions, slightly emotional.  We’re all looking forward to the first sessions with the children later this week.”

SWAP is an initiative designed to help pre-school children aged 2-4 to communicate using symbols instead of words and has been funded by BBC Children In Need.  For further information e-mail SWAP@sycamoretrust.org.uk
