Social survivors starts soon!

New project for 2019!

The new year is set to be very exciting for us at the Sycamore Trust - we're launching a brand new initiative next month for young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Thanks to the Mayor of London's Young Londoner's Fund, we've been planning the new Social Survivors Programme for some time.  It's a brand new programme for young people with ASD living in Havering, Barking & Dagenham and Redbridge who are not eligible for support from their local authority.

The programme consists of five modules, designed to enable young people with ASD to learn the skills required to live independently and make a contribution to society.

  • Travel training
  • Basic living skills
  • Diet & grooming
  • Social skills
  • Safer relationships

Modules will be delivered on a weekly basis for two hours in the evening at the Royals Club in Rainham.  Some activities will take place in the community, allowing the young people to become comfortable and competent in accessing their local environment.  In addition we will include enjoyable and stimulating activities in a safe space where they can meet and make friends.

This project is funded by the Mayor's Young Londoner's Fund and is available for those young people between 10-16 who do not have a care package or an EHC plan.  For more information email activities@sycamoretrust.org.uk or call 020 8517 9317
