Thank you, Trevor!

There was a tremendous effort from Dagenham born Trevor Hazell in October when he completed the London Marathon on behalf of the Sycamore Trust. Trevor’s late mother worked with SEN families for 30 years and, as he was born very close to our building in Dagenham, Trevor wanted to take part in the Marathon in order to raise money for our vital services.

The race was postponed in 2020 and delayed again this year but finally took place at the beginning of October, starting in Greenwich Park and finishing on The Mall. Trevor is no stranger to distance running, having done a couple of half marathons this year already as part of his build up to the big one in October, and he finished the gruelling 26-mile course in under four hours, posting a remarkable 3 hours 56 minutes.

Of course, the point of the exercise was to raise much-needed funds for Sycamore, no easy task when you consider that the race had already been postponed twice already! But Trevor was determined not to let such trivial issues from thwarting his fund raising efforts, and managed to raise just over a thousand pounds, thanks to his digital fund raising page and personal donations. And he hasn't stopped raising money either, as he will be part of our team for the Vitality 10k when it takes place in 2022.
