Two down, three to go!

The first two modules in our life skills project have now been completed, and the young people celebrated this mini milestone with fajitas at the Alpha Club last night.

The programme, for 10-16 year olds in mainstream education, began in February at the Royals Club in Rainham and has been such a success, we're starting a similar project next month in Dagenham.

Last night at the Royals Club, the participants finished the second of their five modules.  The first was related to transport & travel and involved learning about walking, cycling and public transport, culminating in a trip to Lakeside.  The second module was called Basic Living Skills and involved such activities as cooking, cleaning and ironing.  Last night, the young people again put these new skills to the test and made fajitas, followed by ice cream.

There are still three more modules to be completed by the end of the year; namely Diet & Grooming, Social Skills and Safe Relationships.  The new Bravo Group in Dagenham will follow the same course when it starts on 6th June.

The two groups are funded by the Mayor of London's Young Londoners Fund. They are available to high functioning young people on the autistic spectrum who are aged 10-16 and access mainstream education, as well as living in one of our three boroughs.
