We're ready to go!

New project to start soon

The Sycamore Trust have a programme designed to support high functioning autistic young adults to become career ready. Supported by the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham, the programme aims to empower young people in their career choices and support them to develop the skills and techniques required to help them achieve their goals.

The project will be made up of a series of modules which are designed to prepare young adults to become work ready, this will include:

  • Thinking about their career goals and how they might go about achieving these.
  • Practical skills such as CV writing, the online application process and mock interviews
  • Looking at how they can stand out from the crowd in the recruitment process which could include additional training, work experience, volunteering.  Gain an understanding on the various opportunities available to access jobs e.g. online recruitment tools, recruitment agencies etc
  • Thinking about what adaptations may be needed in a workplace to support individual needs.

Our scheme will not replicate the function of Job Coaches or Job Centres, but we recognise that young adults on the spectrum may need more support to become ready for work. Our initiative is completely free of charge and available to high functioning young adults on the spectrum aged 18 to 25 (on 1st Jan 2021) living in the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham.

The first group starts on 20th July 2021. If interested, please complete the registration form and send it to careerready@sycamoretrust.org.uk or drop an email to the same address
