Ambassadors visit NELFT

Autism awareness training for NELFT staff

The Autism Ambassadors from Sycamore Trust U.K.  were in action this morning at the North East London NHS Foundation Trust in Rainham.  NELFT have recently taken on a new employee with Autism and the Ambassadors visited this morning to conduct a free workshop aimed at helping staff to understand how best they can help and interact with their new colleague.  Over 30 NELFT staff took part in the training with Autism Ambassadors Rob & Alex from Sycamore Trust U.K.

The Autism Ambassadors project is designed and delivered to help raise awareness of Autism in the local communities in which we’re based. The Ambassadors deliver Autism Awareness training to professionals and organisations to assist in removing the barriers that prevent people with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorders) from accessing social, education, leisure, employment and other local opportunities.

This is achieved primarily by the Ambassadors delivering interactive presentations to local organisations, schools and services, explaining to them about Autism and how they can help.

The Ambassadors have already worked with a number of well known local organisations, including Abellio Greater Anglia Railways
