CPD is the intentional maintenance and development of the knowledge or skills required to perform in a professional context and CPD obligations are present in many professions. Most companies and organisations prioritise CPD training as it ensures a constantly developing workforce. This could mean honing current skills or learning new ones that will allow an employee’s job role to expand or prepare them for a potential promotion.
This means that there are millions of professionals across the UK who are required to undertake CPD training every year.
We’ve been preparing our new Autism Awareness Training at Sycamore Trust for the best part of 2019, having taken part in the Pilot Light programme run by Barclays Bank that helps charities to set up social enterprises. Early in the process, we realised the value of our wonderful Autism Awareness training and our 90-minute presentation has now been accredited by the CPD Standards Office.
Our trainers will visit to deliver the training, but we are also developing plans to do regular sessions at our premises in Dagenham. Delegates can expect an interactive session learning about issues such as the Triad of Impairments while taking part in a number of exercises designed to increase understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
There is increasing awareness of Autism in the mainstream media and several politicians at both local and national level have made reference to improving awareness as well as the quality of care for people on the spectrum, which we hope will stimulate interest in our training.
