The brother and sister team of Sam and Ellie Hawkes completed the Battersea Park half marathon at the weekend, and managed to raise over £1,500 for Sycamore Trust UK in the process!
Sam and Ellie decided to run the Battersea Park Half in support of their little sister Evie, who is a member of our girls group. Evie has been wonderful company whenever we've seen her since she joined the group and she also excelled last year during our outdoor week. Her older brother and sister decide that they would raise some money for us by way of a thank you and we are extremely graeful to them for their efforts.
It was a very warm day at the weekend when Sam and Ellie tackled the 21km race. Sam completed the course in a terrific time of one hour 41 minutes and Ellie finished the 13 miles in an excellent two hours 31 minutes. What an achievement by the pair of them, and they raised a wonderful total for Sycamore at the same time.
After the race, Sam said; "We are so happy we were able to raise as much as we have and we hope we have raised awareness in the community for the support that the Sycamore Trust provides families in Havering."
