Be my Valentine!

The third gathering of our Sycamore Trust Autism Ramblers took place this week and once again, we had the perfect weather for walking.

Having visited Parsloes Park in B&D and Raphael Park in Havering, we felt it was only right to visit the borough of Redbridge and to no-one's surprise, we chose the green flag award-winning Valentines Park in Ilford for our third walk.

Valentines Park is the largest green space in the borough, and its construction dates way back to 1696.  It has hosted many famous visitors over the years, including HM Queen Elizabeth II, who visited the park in 2012 as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour.

There were no royal family members there last Tuesday (as far as we know!) but we still had a great morning for our 5km walk.  It's all part of our new regular walking group, schedule, which has been supported by TFL and the London Marathon Foundation.

If you's like to get involved, there are oplenty of opportunities in June and July.  Here's the schedule;

  • Thurs 5th June (11am) Eastbrookend Country Park, Dagenham - distance 3.85km
  • Tues 17th June (11am) Hornchurch Country Park, Havering - distance 5.9km
  • Thurs 3rd July (11am) Hainault Forest, Redbridge - distance 4.6km
