Blue Monday!

On Monday of this week, our Autism Ambassadors attended a wonderful event at Mont Rose College in Gants Hill, as ther staff and students once again celebrated Autism Awareness Month.

The theme of their event was 'not all flowers grow the same' and the sudent engagement department at Mont Rose brought together a panel of speakers to underline that message.

In addition, the held a Blue Ribbon raffle with the proceeds going to Sycamore Trust UK and if that wasn't enough, Milana, one of their very talented  students also baked some rather fabulous cupcakes, beautifuloy decorated with blue icing, which were sold, again to add to their total donation.

The speakers included Mrs Sayeda Zain, Mont Rose principal, who introduced the event and talked about her personal perspective, and she was folllowed by Sycamore's Steve Dixon who talked about the importance of events of this nature for raising viotal funds and also raising awareness.

Tania Elahi, a lecturer at Mont Rose, gave a perpective from an academic viewpoint and Sycamore Ambassadors Robert & Joseph talked about their own lived experience of autism, while another MRC lecturer, Farida Kalam, spoke about her own personal journey, and that of her family.

All that was left was for Robert & Joseph to draw the winner of the Blue Ribbon Raffle and present the prize!  Thanks to everyone at Mont Rose College for their continued support.  To find out more about MRC, please visit https://mrcollege.ac.uk/
