Fore a good cause!

We had a brilliant day on Friday at the fourth annual Sycamore Trust Golf Day.

This year, we decided upon a change of venue, and our golfers assembled at Maylands Golf Club, close to the M25, on a glorious sunny morning.  After a busy chipping and putting competition, our 60 players teed off on the first and tenth tees and everyone was out on the course by 11.15am.  Mind you, we didn't have the course to ourselves, there were dozens of deer wandering around between the fairways!

Everyone was back in the clubhouse by around 3.30pm and we had an excellent lunch waiting for us.  After a bite to eat, there was a very dramatic play off to decide the winner of the chipping and putting competitions, before we settled down to dish out the prizes for the day.

Our overall winner was Nick Mummery, with Ian Divers finishing in the runners-up slot.  The winners for entire day were as follows;

  • Competition winner: Nick Mummery
  • Runner - Up: Ian Divers
  • Longest drive: Patrick Hattersley
  • Nearesrt the Pin: George Baker, Nick Mummery, Shaney Whiting, Neil Parker
  • Chipping competition: Dawn Gomes
  • Putting Competition: Jack Williams
  • Wooden spoon: Richard Borg

Huge thanks to Paul & Jemma Taylor for pulling all the teams together and we're also grateful to Fix Auto Dagenham, Enterprise Holdings, Abbey Group, BVS Group, and BPS Building Services for continuing to support the day, which raised over £2,000.  We enjoyed it so much, we've booked a date for next year!
