New groups, new skills!

Our latest twelve-month Life & Social Skills Programme for 10 to 16-year-olds with a high-functioning autism diagnosis started in April and the young people are enjoying their experience. They completed the first module, which focuses on relationships, before half-term and have now moved on to module two, which covers five topics relating to social skills.

The programme helps the young people learn important life skills, build self-confidence, and develop their independence, in a safe and nurturing environment. You can see from the photos that the groups also provide an opportunity for the young people to have fun, socialise and make new friends.

City Bridge Foundation has funded this programme since April 2024, and we are very grateful for their collaboration and financial support. This term-time programme is for children and young people with a diagnosis of mild to moderate autism (higher functioning) who attend mainstream school and live in Barking & Dagenham, Havering, or Redbridge.

We also offer places to young people who are on the waiting list for an autism assessment and live in one of those boroughs. We are now running a waiting list for the next programme, which will start in April 2026, and enquires should be directed to matt.dyde@sycamoretrust.org.uk
