Pre school and nursery support date set for June

Sycamore Trust will hold a workshop in June entitled Pre-School and nursery support, hosted by Emma Farrow-Brookes from Flegelings Nursery.

Emma will be discussing what support your child can access within a pre-school nursery setting if they have additional needs.

Not only is Emma a qualified SENDCo with 22 years experience, but she is also a mother to a neurodiverse child.

She said; "Once my son gained his diagnosis, I then knew I only wanted to specialise in SEND supporting other children and their families with their journey. This opportunity became available at Fledgelings, and I am now the Area SENDco for four nursery sites in Havering. I strive for early intervention - identifying children's needs as soon as possible and providing the correct support."

Emma joined our #daretobedifferent sponsored walk last month with the enthusiastioc support of children at Fledgelings, who were very busy painting, wearing odd socks, and baking cupcakes to sell to raise money. In honour of Emma’s walk, the toddlers at their Rainham nursery did laps of the garden too!

Children at Fledgelings supported Emma by baking cakes, wearing odd socks and walking laps of the garden!

The workshop takes place on 23rd June from 10am to 12pm at the Sycamore Trust UK premises in Dagenham.  The subjects Emma will cover will include discussions with parents about Early intervention, what that should looks like in nurseries and the support they should be providing. Emma has an abundance of knowledge in Havering and is well versed in the basics for all boroughs whilst adhering to the SEND code of practice.
