The TCS London Marathon took place at the weekend. Over 56,000 people crossed the finish line on Sunday to ensure that the 2025 London Marathion entered the Guinness Book of Records as the largest number of people to ever finish a marathon.
One of those people was our very own Tom Gentry, from Upminster, who took part in the race to raise money for Sycamore Trust UK. Of course, as well as that, Tom was also thrilled to take part in such a world famous event, and he did plenty of training, right up until the week before the big day,
And it certainly paid off. We knew Tom wouldn't hang about, but we were astonished to discover that he crossed the finish line in an incredible three hours, four minutes and 35 seconds. That is a remarkable achievement and one of which he should be very proud.
Tom has been raising money for Sycamore, and as the race got under way on Sunday, his total stood at just over £1,600 and his fund raising page is still open at https://www.justgiving.com/page/tom-gentry-1730765835950
After the race Tom was delighted with his time, especially given how warm it was on Sunday. He said;
"I'm absolutely over the moon with the result I couldn't quite believe it myself! The event was absolutely incredible. I can't put into words how good the atmosphere was the entire way around - an unforgettable day!"
Tom's page is still open so feel free to make a donation to acknowledge what an amazing achievement it was. From all of us at Sycamore Trust, congratulations & thank you!
