Sycamore the winner in seven goal thriller!
There was a quite remarkable fund-raising occasion last Tuesday evening at Victoria Road, home of Dagenham & Redbridge FC. A charity football match between Fix Auto Dagenham and Enterprise Rent-a-car took place, with all proceeds going to Sycamore Trust UK.
The staff and directors at Fix Auto Dagenham have been supporting Sycamore Trust for some years now and they were the driving force behind the event, which was held at the Chigwell Construction Stadium, a stone’s throw from the Fix Auto premises on Rainham Road South.
Today, the ever-growing Fix Auto UK network currently stands at more than 120 repair centres spanning the entire UK, but the foundations for the multi-award-winning vehicle repair network were laid down when Fix Auto Dagenham became the first to sign up to the concept in 2005 and the match was also a celebration of the 20th anniversary of Fix Auto Dagenham.
The match, which took months to plan, turned out to be a very entertaining fixture and the two sides shared seven goals, with Enterprise winning the match 4-3. There were notable performances on either side, including an appearance from former England left back Nicky Shorey in the Fix Auto team, and a Player of the Match performance in the Enterprise midfield from Charleen Cairns.

Despite the Enterprise victory, there was little doubt that Sycamore Trust emerged as the real winner on the night, with a £6,000 boost for the charity’s fund-raising efforts. Scott Dunnell from Fix Auto said; "We really enjoyed the occasion and we were thrilled to raise so much money for such a wonderful local charity and a good cause. We are looking forward to another match next year, so we can reverse the scoreline!"
