Thrill of the Chase!

On Monday 18th August, seven of the young people who attend our youth groups joined staff for a walk at Thames Chase Community Forest near Upminster.

Thames Chase is a community forest manged by Forestry England, covering 40 square miles of green belt land in east London and south-west Essex. It was set up in 1990 and is one of 12 Community Forests in England. It has a visitor centre and tearoom and offers a range of activities including walking trails, cycling and children’s play areas.

We started the visit with a guided walk led by a member of staff from the centre and followed that up with a photo walk where the young people were able to take nature photos on one of the trails. We finished up with a picnic lunch near the visitor centre and some fun time in the children’s play area. Everyone enjoyed getting out in the fresh air and had a thoroughly good time.

A big thank you to Forestry England for welcoming us to the forest and covering the cost of the guided walk, and to Alex who led the walk and taught us so much about the forest.
