2.6 challenge? No problem!

Sycamore Trust UK staff have embraced the 2.6 challenge with a range of activities in the last few days, and the fund raising efforts will continue all week.

The 2.6 challenge is the nationwide fundraising initiative designed to help replace some of the money that will be missing from charity coffers because of the postponement of the London Marathon yesterday.  And as the 26 mile race was due to take place on the 26th April, the 2.6 challenge seemed the ideal vehicle help plug the fundraising gap.

Sycamore staff tackled a range of different challenges over the weekend, and there's still time to get involved or support the campaign. We're still delivering the essential services to the autistic community in Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge, but our fund raising efforts have been hit hard by the current situation.

Perhaos the most eye catching effort of the weekend was Ann Marie Lyons-Mummery, who completed her 2.6 mile bike ride in fancy dress!  Ann Marie's SWAP colleague Cheryl Kearney completed 26 minutes of skipping and marketing chief Steve Dixon went for a run round the local park, clocking just over 3 miles.

Senior Project Manager Jean Rayner stayed local, with a 2.6 kile walk around Parsloes Park in Dagenham, and perhaps the most punishing effort came from Autism Hub manager Debbie Gadbury, who completed a fitness circuit with 26 different exercises!  Debbie's Autism Hub colleague Alex Rowley managed 260 sit ups in short order as well and CEO Chris Gillbanks also posted a good time for her 2.6 km walk.

Sycamore staff all over East London and Essex have all stepped up to help the fund raising initiative and there's still time to help our efforts as we aim to break the £1,00 barrier.  We are still accepting donations - to support our efforts, go to https://bit.ly/3byIs7R
