Bravo Two Zero!

Club set for re-start

Our Bravo youth club is gearing up preparations to re-start and we're looking for new members!  Like many of our youth services, Bravo group meetings in Dagenham were suspended at the start of the national lockdown in March, and although we've had a very busy summer, with virtual meetings every week and the successful summer programme, we are very much looking forward to getting back to our regulkar youth club activities.

The Bravo group meets every Thursday and is one of two groups funded by the Mayor of London's Young Londoners Fund.  The other group, Alpha, meets every Wednesday.  Membership is open to anyone in the boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge who is aged 10-16, attends mainstream school with high functioning Autism.  We're hoping that the group will be able to meet in person in October, but in the meantime, we will be resuming our virtual meetings, which have proven to be so popular this summer.

The main aim of the Bravo group is to teach life skills, from travelling on public transport, to ironing a shirt or opening a bank account.  The group follow the year long course, split into five modules, but we also devote a fair amount of our time to social activity, as we encourage those vital communication skills and help social abilities and confidence to flourish.  A number of friendships have been made in the group and we're sure that we can encourage more young people to make friends thanks to the group activities.

If you'd like to join, or to suggest someone who might benefit from joining, please drop Sue a line at activities@sycamoretrust.org.uk or call 020 8517 9317.
