Down on the farm!

The Autism Ambassadors have barely paused for breath this week with three presentations already.  On Monday Robert, Alex and Archie were invited to deliver an autism awareness presentation to a group of careers advisers at Prospects in Romford.  The advisers work with students in schools and colleges across Havering and they felt that the presentation will help them to improve the service they provide for autistic students that they meet.

Following that visit, there was no rest for the Ambassadors as they went to meet staff and volunteers at Havering Home Start, a local charity that offers free and confidential support to families with children under the age of 5 across the London Borough of Havering.

The following day involved a visit to Wellgate Community Farm in Marks Gate where they delivered their awareness session to a group of volunteers who work at the farm around their school and college commitments.  Alex and Robert were joined by Rilwan, a new ambassador who volunteered for the first time.  Studies have shown that children on the spectrum can benefit from contact with animals and autistic children are regular visitors to the farm.  Following the presentation, the lads were given a tour of the farm.
