Our friends from Barking & Dagenham Progress Project are hosting an ‘International Day of Disabled People’ Family Fun Day on Sunday 22nd August. You don’t need to book tickets and it is completely free! The event will take place at Jim Peter’s Stadium, Lodge Avenue, Dagenham RM8 2JR from 12pm to 4pm and will offer children and young people with a disability or special educational needs, and their siblings, the chance to enjoy loads of fun activities. All young people attending need to be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or caregiver, for the duration of their attendance.
There will be an accessible toilet on site and parking spaces can be found at Barking Sports House which is next door to the stadium. Positive Change Consultancy will be running art, crafts and poetry activities in their gazebo from 12pm to 4pm and the itinerary for the outdoor sports activities is:
The children and young people can mix, match and dip into different activities, depending on their preference and families are welcome to stay for some or all of the event. Matt and Nikki from Progress Project have both worked at Sycamore Trust youth clubs in the past and would love to welcome some Sycamore Trust families to the event!
A reminder that there is no need to book a ticket, but if you would like more information, you can contact Matt at forum@bdpp.org.uk or Nikki at sportingfutures@bdpp.org.uk
Hopefully the weather will be fine, but this is primarily an outdoor event so please be aware that if the weather conditions are very poor, the event may be cancelled at short notice.
