In memory of Norma

When a much loved family member passes away, it can only be a sad time for everyone concerned, but one Romford family were able to remember a special lady with a donation to the Sycamore Trust.

Paul and Jemma Taylor are well known to all of us at Sycamore because their daughter Oliviawas one of the first children to take part in the Speak With A Picture project that helps pre-school children to communicate with their parents, and we were all very sad to learn that Jemma's mother Norma had passed away recently.

We were even more suprised to learn that she had succumbed to illness at the age of just 58, a terrible and sudden event for all the family.  Norma was SEND specialist at Ravensbourne School in Harold Hill so was sympathetic towards children with special needs and she was particularly impressed with what our SWAP programme had been able to do for her daughter and grand-daughter.

Therefore, at the funeral last week, the family chose to ask mourners to make a donation to the Sycamore Trust and they raised an astonishing £825.  Jemma and three generations family visited the Hub to deliver the money and have some pictures taken.

In our main picture, Sycamore CEO Chris Gilbanks accepts the cheque from the family, and the whole family is pictured; sister in law Chelsea with Theo & Arlo, Norma's mum Ivy, Jemma with Olivia & Max and Carla & Frankie.
