Pre diagnosis project meets again in June

Are you waiting for an Autism assessment?

Are you waiting for an Autism assessment? We may be able to help. If you live in the boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge and your child is waiting for an autism assessment, then we can provide guidance and support around the assessment process, and we have a parent coffee morning in June where you can find out more.

It can be very challenging and time consuming on the pathway for an autism assessment - the wait for the assessment and diagnosis can be a long one. During this time, the child is still displaying behaviour and other autism related issues. We are aware that there is no support at this time and, parents can often feel alone and struggling to cope.

Our new project is supporting parents at this time with:

  • A pre-diagnostic parent support group
  • Support and guidance through the assessment process
  • Help to understand how the process works and what to expect
  • One to one support where we can spend a little more time with the family getting to understand their individual needs, discuss their child's behaviours and support with advice and strategies individualised to their child
  • Signposting to other relevant organisations and services, which can help and support the family

Our next pre-diagnosis parent coffee morning will be on Thursday 9th June from 10am-12pm in the Autism Hub in Romford's Liberty Centre. Parents must book spaces in advance by emailing familyservices@sycamoretrust.org.uk
