In recent years, he has also spoken in  Denmark, Belgium, Guernsey and Ireland as well as undertaking four annual seminar tours of Australia and New Zealand. Through his  humorous and insightful speeches Dean outlines his positive outlook on his diagnosis.

E-Safety:

This workshop will provide you with tips and advice on online safety. Covering the basics of social media, what happens when uploading photos and videos (etc.), internet security, reporting abusive or upsetting material and looking at harmful and external programs. We will also discuss internet access through mobile phones, looking at mobile apps and how to use them safely.

Autism Awareness:

This project will be offering abridged sessions on the day. The ambassadors have been delivering their awareness presentations since 2010, reaching out to over 6000 people. In these special workshops, we will provide a brief explanation of the key difficulties of autism and  describe their own situations, before opening up for an extended, no-holds-barred Q&A session.

Sensory Strategies:

People with Autism may experience many sensory issues, which can affect all of their senses, i.e. Sight, Hearing, Taste, Smell and Touch. Some people with ASD can also be aware of two other senses, Proprioception (self-awareness) and Vestibular (balance). We will discuss how these can affect an individual with ASD and look at some coping strategies  that can be useful when experiencing sensory overload.

Employment:

This workshop will help parents and professionals to understand the barriers that people with Autism may face when trying to get into continued employment. The SPACE Project’s trained Job Coaches will discuss what the project has to offer, people with Autism e.g. CV writing, job searching, interview practice and preparation, travel training and support in the work place.
